Operations Manager (trainee) – position filled

Job Title: Operations Manager (trainee), US

Advancement Track: Junior partner

Compensation:  Depends on Experience (DOE)

Hours:  Up to you, pending contractual arrangements

Job Description:  Entry Level position responsible for lead qualification and screening using Zoho CRM (cloud-based SaaS) for international Impact Investing and Advisory Firm based in California. Entering our 25th year, In3 Capital Group has been (quietly) vetting, co-developing, packaging, and in some cases financing projects that help achieve the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and offer the potential to not just slow down climate change but to actually reverse it. We are driven and passionate about making a difference.

Why this position, why now?  Recently we have seen a significant increase in demand for our services and, with the help of more than a dozen affiliate offices, and an in-house family office capital partner, become very focused on what we call our Capital Guarantee Program™, an innovative and streamlined approach to mid-market renewables and infrastructure project finance. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: get on top of our dealflow and master the core fundamentals to demonstrate solid business judgement, analytical and prioritization skills to maximize stakeholder benefits.

Qualifications:  Prefer someone with at least a basic understanding of CRM (see FAQs, below), Excel, WordPress, G Suite, LinkedIn, Dropbox, and similar tools, plus a background in business, finance, and/or venture/impact capital. The capacity to learn quickly is more important than ready-made domain (subject matter) expertise. Expect to learn on-the-job to advance rapidly, based on performance. Minimum 6-12 month commitment expected, either part time or full time, after 30-60 day trial period.

Note: consistent with the nature of global project finance these days, your physical location does not matter, so long as you have Internet access.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. 6-12 months preferred minimum commitment?  Why?  What is there to learn?  Fundraising itself a bit of an artform, and although our systems help turn it into more of a science, our approach to fundraising is proven, non-traditional and innovative. Project Finance is widely used (differences with venture capital), but we offer sharp advantages by asking the project developer to bring a guarantee during construction (article).  Even those who know project finance already will have a significant learning curve.
  2. Why aren’t there any set work hours?  Because, to start, as our newest team member, you would have 30-60 days to learn the ropes, and the invested time per week or month to gain that experience is up to you.  We will provide instructions and coaching support, but the right candidate would bring an entrepreneurial “edge” where the focus is on results, not hours.  If you’re a fast learner, this will be exciting and rewarding.  Further, this position is designed for an independent contractor or consultant that sets their own hours.  Capabilities demonstrated during the trial period determine the longer-term activities and work hours going forward.
  3. Why does In3 use Zoho CRM?  We’ve customized this cloud-based software to track incoming leads, deals, and our affiliate network, automating and organizing the numerous inquiries we receive to better focus and serve the ones that are qualified and ready to take next steps.  We use CRM (“Customer Relationship Management”) software, as do many larger firms — most popular CRM is probably SalesForce.com —  because we enjoy incredibly diverse dealflow and so we needed a system to sort through, score and prioritize opportunities.  We also use a customized 9-question readiness assessment called RAIN — Readiness And Investment Navigator.  Together, Zoho and RAIN help us quickly pre-qualify leads while also providing educational opportunities for developers worldwide.
Our client intake form offers a sneak peek at Zoho’s power and capabilities.
  4. What’s this job really about?  No, really
Understanding the nuts & bolts of In3’s innovative funding program (more on CGP).  This position offers an intensive, lucrative, long-term career building opportunity.  You bring both people skills (emotional intelligence), including precise verbal and written communication skills, as well as analytical abilities, abstract reasoning, a good working knowledge of business and finance, and a passion for solving sustainability issues in the US and globally.
  5. What sort of compensation is possible?  The right candidate will likely reach Junior Partner status within 1-2 years, at which time, annual cash earnings would easily exceed six figures, with a vesting schedule to be established.
  6. When does it start?  20 July 2020 or as mutually arranged.

In3 Group is an equal opportunity employer.
